A Chance Happening!

Well, the deed is done! The button is pressed! We await the finished article with baited breath. Have played the master CD to death. Agonised about the running order:What track should be first? What in the middle? Which runs well into what? On a 15 tracker there must be 101 different permutations. We probably tried most of them. (We think) we are happy with it but if you don’t agree, just load it on your computer and press ‘play at random’! So after five weeks of living and breathing this album and probably driving Justin round the bend, the CD Ghosts of Wasted Chances is born. We are now going to lie down in a darkened room for a week to recover. Al Stewart is working on some amazing artwork for it and then we’ll be away. We expect the album to be available before the end of April. We hope you like it.

On the gigging side, we’ve had a couple of cracking nights at The Manor Arms in Burton, near Christchurch. We do like it when people get up and dance, join in on the percussion and keep us playing til way after closing time! We’re next at The Manor on Saturday 14th May.

We’ve also made our Winchester debut! Last night we played at The Railway Inn on St Paul’s Hill. What a fab little venue that is. And a great sound engineer – Dave. We had a (very) small but select audience – about 20 people but hey, that’s 20 people who’d never seen us before! And from little acorns, huge oak trees grow. We just don’t want it to take a 100 years that’s all! Anyway, we had fun and we hope we’ll be invited back.

We’ve been getting some really good publicity recently too with write-ups in the Southern Daily Echo and The Winchester Observer and some radio plugs too. We were on air for about 15 minutes with Phil Marriott on Win FM on Tuesday 29th March and hope to back there for an in-depth session and a play of some of our songs in a few weeks time. We are really pleased to be featured again on In Session on The Saint Radio all this week. We had a great time with Ben Shoveller there and we’ve really enjoyed hearing tracks from the Ghosts album streaming out over the airwaves. You should have seen us last night, all the band plus a couple of mates, beers in hand, crowding round Alan’s car in the car park at The Railway Inn to listen in to Marilyn. We were very pleased with ourselves! There’s still a couple of nights to go – some live acoustic tracks tonight and tomorrow so listen in on 107.5fm or on digital or on Sky on channel 899. I tell you, even apart from us, they play some stonking music.

Another interesting development is that we have met and started working with Terry Eckersley of Think Media Music Ltd in Southampton. We are looking at some very specific projects with them which could be very exciting so we’re keeping everything crossed. Terry’s a really, interesting, helpful guy and Think Media Music has some big things going on. Check out the website www.thinkmediamusic.com

Things are moving along nicely for our Charity Gig with Pete Christie and Chris Tempest on Friday 6th May at Hoburne Park. We are really bowled over by the level of support we’re getting and thank everyone who is helping. Keep watching the website for more details and expect to see posters and flyers just about everywhere from Christchurch to Lymington over the next few weeks.

Don’t forget, we’re back at Talking Heads, Portswood Road, Southampton next Thursday 7th April. We’re doing an extended set starting at 9.00pm and going on til midnight! We’ll probably be carried off stage at the end! Hope you can join us!

Well, that’s it for now. See you at a gig soon.

Charlie
