Great gigs!
Well, my last blog was telling you all about our festive concert in December and now here we are and it's February already. Hope this doesn't mean the rest of the year's going to whizz past. Anyway, we've had four cracking gigs since the start of the New Year. Our first one of 2007 was at the Salisbury Arms in Purewell on 12th January. We love this gig. Great atmosphere. A warm audience, many of whom are really familiar with our music. It's just like playing to a load of our mates at home. It was a lovely way to start the year. Then the following week found us at a completely new venue for us - The Lion Brewery in Ash, near Guildford. Oh, what a gig! I tell you what, it was one of the best nights we've had. The audience was just great. Nobody knew us at all. None of our regular followers was there. They were all State of Undress virgins!! We had everyone going - dancing, shaking eggs - it was just brilliant! Then, disaster struck ... I caught the dreaded flu, lost my voice and had to cancel 3 gigs on the trot. Unheard of for us. However, I dragged myself off my sick-bed to play The King Charles Pub in Thames St, Poole. Made our debut there. What a lovely venue! Old stone walls, huge wooden joists and timbers - fabulous! I eas still coughing and spluttering between songs but, hey, the show must go on! As the evening progressed, the place filled up and, once again, the audience was really responsive - out came the shaky eggs and it was party time again! Then, the following night found us at The Coachmakers Arms in the centre of Wallingford near Oxford. Again, this was too far away for any of our regular followers to come but the landlord, Eamon, had been doing his stuff, subjecting the locals to our album! In fact, it was playing as we walked in to set up. I thought, blimey, this music sounds familiar ...! Anyway, there was a really good-sized audience and playing our album obviously had had the desired effect because before we even started the gig, people were requesting specific tracks. But what a fabulous audience! They loved us, and we loved them! Even the landlord was playing eggs! Jo, one of the organisers of the Wallingford Bunkfest was there, she danced all evening, played tambourine, and generally had a wild time - as did we all! The Bunkfest is Friday 31st August to Sunday 2nd September. We played this great little festival last year. It's now in our diary for this year! We'd like to thank all these venues and their customers for making us so welcome. Our next gig is at The Mash Tun, Eastgate St., Winchester on Saturday 10th February at 9.00pm. We always have a good time here. Hope you can join us.
