A Rosy Evening ...

We had such a good time on Sunday evening at The Tudor Rose. This is a really quirky venue in the heart of Romsey. The bar is intimate/cosy/tiny (take your pick!) and to fit the band in and the audience is a major achievement. I practically have to sit on the high hat (well, at least I hit the high notes!) but do you know what? We love it!. Because it’s such an up close and personal gig, you can’t tell where the band stops and the audience begins. They have no choice but to join in! It was a great responsive audience : there were a few outrageous locals who made our usual raucous following look quite well-behaved in comparison! Anyway it was all going so well, we thought we’d try out a new song on them. Actually it’s a song that Alan and I wrote quite a while back and had never brought to the band before. It’s a really rocky uptempo song called ‘Pretend’ – it went down a storm! I even get to do a dodgy harmonica break on it. It’s a definite one for album no 3! In the audience were a couple of committee members of The Beggars Fair – one of our favourite festivals – who asked us to play at next July’s event (second weekend in July) and then Peter, the landlord, booked us for two more gigs – Saturday nights too. Yippee! Look on the website for dates. Our next gig is at The Railway Tavern Andover on 12th November. Making our debut there!

Cheers!
